THERE ARE MANY BREEDS OF HORSES…

There are horses bred for pleasure, others bred for fun,
Some are bred for work and others bred to run.
Many are easy riding and others can work a cow.
From the little bitty ponies, to those that can pull a plow.
With feet of many sizes, as different as can be,
Hooves the size of your thumb, to others as big as a tree.
They come in many colors, sizes, shapes, or shades.
Anywhere from pure White, to those as Black as spades.
With individual markings, a swirl or a snip,
Some have bally faces and stockings to the hip.
Others in shades of Buckskin or in many shades of Grey.
No matter what the color is they all eat lots of hay!
Oats are measured by the pound, and hay fed by the ton,
It all blends together and cleanup is lots of fun.
The majestic beast of burden owned by royalty of course.
I’m not talking about an Ox; I am talking about the Horse.
Some folks talk about horse racing, the real sport of Kings.
But for me, a test of strength, among some other things.
A big huge wagon, with rumbling wooden wheels,
Until you get to drive one, you just don’t know how it feels.
Leather lines, stretched snug, from hand to tender mouth,
Controls power in the North end, of a horse aheadin’ South.
Any horse, if broke to drive, can probably pull a cart.
It’s much more fun to drive one, with willingness of heart!
Oh there are lots to choose from, several different breeds.
I’m sure a person can find, the very one to fill his needs.
As for Me, I want one with grace and strength and style,
I choose a Draft Horse, now watch me smile !
