Burl Summers

Our dear friend and fellow teamster Burl Lane Summers passed away Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2012.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.




             Burl Lane Summers, 63, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Blackfoot.
           He was born June 29, 1949, in Rigby to Dwayne Summers and Nola Madsen Summers. He graduated from Ririe High School and continued his education at the ISU Vocational School.
 
            He then joined theArmy and served for two years in the 3/506 101st Airborne in Vietnam. After the Army, he married Ruth Poore on July 9, 1971, in Ririe. They were married 37 years and he loved her dearly. They had one daughter, Stephanie.
Burl went on to ISU, then Utah State and back to ISU, where he graduated with his civil engineering degree.
          He retired from working at the INL site. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and a member of the VFW.
         Burl enjoyed panning for gold, poker, horses, camping, cooking, woodworking, hunting and fishing and traveling. He was an avid reader and a great baseball fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Derek) Lane of Blackfoot; sister, Delaine (Rick) Jones of Wickenburg, Ariz.; brother, Shayne Summers of Coltman, Idaho; and grandson, Logan Burl Lane of Blackfoot. He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Ruth; parents, Dwayne and Nola Summers; and a brother, Arlo Summers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, with his brother Shayne Summers officiating. Veteran's rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.

Clyde Avery

                                                                  


              Clyde Roy Avery, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away at his home Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.
He was born Nov. 22, 1951, the youngest of five children born to Hannah Atheldia Palmer Avery and Ira Roy Avery. He was born and lived in Milo, Idaho, for most of his life.
He met Ellen Marie Cox while attending Ricks College and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1972. They settled into dairy farming.
               Clyde was a member of the Intermountain Draft Horse and Mule Association. He loved horses, and especially loved mules and working with them.
Through the years, Clyde worked as a manager of Skippers Sea Food, and most recently as the van driver for Life Care of Idaho Falls.
            Clyde was the proud father of six children and 12 grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Clyde loved being with people, especially his family and extended family.
            He enjoyed camping and sports. Clyde coached many baseball teams through the years. He loved helping everyone and believed if you could help someone smile each day, then it was a good day.
             Clyde is survived by his wife, Ellen Cox Avery; children, Stephen Avery, Sue-Ellen Tomlinson, Joseph Avery, Hanna Morgan, Patricia Gappmeyer and Henry Avery; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Idonna Sorenson; and sisters-in-law, Rosalee Avery and Marlene Jones.
Besides his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley Dee Avery and Charles Allen Avery; and a sister, NevaJane Avery.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Milo LDS Church, 12127 N. 75 East. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Milo Cemetery.

Spud dig


Thank you to all of those who came out and helped, participated in and watch our play day! We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to have a good time!

It’s that time of year again, harvest time! Our next event will be our annual spud dig! We will be digging on Saturday October 13th, 2012 starting at 10:00 A.M (weather permitting. Watch the blog and your email if it’s bad weather)  in the field next to Reed’s Dairy (on West Broadway). There will be diggers available, so bring your team or even a single animal. Don’t have a team? Come watch or help pick spuds. There will be a pot luck lunch. The club will provide sloppy joes. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.

August Newletter

We changed the area of the Wagon Train this year and it was awesome! The Camping, the trails, all of the great teams, families, and all of the different styles of chicken made it even better. A special thanks to all of those who helped cook the chicken!

Our next event is the Play Day! It will Saturday August 4th at the Rexburg outdoor arena. The fun will begin at 6:00 P.M. We'll start with a grand entry to introduce the teams and their divers. The day will go as follows:
