Charles "Chick" Rock

Was dearly loved and will be missed!

Charles “Chick” Everett Rock, 91, of Lewisville, died July 5, 2011 at the home of his daughter Patsi.
He was born June 17, 1920 in Cottonwood, Idaho, to Edgar Clyde Rock and Louisa Eggertz Rock. He was raised and attended schools in Howe and Roberts and graduated from Midway High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1941 and served as an Aviation Metal Smith in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. In May of 1942, he was serving on the USS Lexington during the Battle of The Coral Sea when the aircraft carrier received devastating damage by air attack then sank into the Pacific. He then served on the USS Card and received an honorable discharge on February 2, 1947. On July 30, 1947, he married Edna Juanita Sluder in Elko, Nevada; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union, they added 4 children. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator on the Palisade Dam, Teton Dam, Brownly-Oxbow Dam and American Falls Dam. He also worked road construction in Idaho and Washington.
Chick was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was an avid horseman and was an excellent welder and metal creator.
He is survived by his daughters, Patsi (Lee) Hinckley, Donetta (Terry) Fife, both of Lewisville; Tamara (Dave) Wulf, of Idaho Falls; a son, C. Richard (Holly) Rock, of Port Orchard, Washington; sisters, Priscilla Glover, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Norma Drummond, of Idaho Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lewisville 1st Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Val Rosenberg, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby and from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.

Fundraiser for Clyde Avery

Clyde got bucked off his mule and has injured his spinal cord. He needs intensive rehab and medical care. As well as his home will need to be remodeled to accommodate a wheelchair. Life Care Center of Idaho Falls is putting on a Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle  to help out with Clyde's medical bills.

The dinner will be held August 12, 2011 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Hope Lutheran School located at 2071 12th st in Idaho Falls. Cost of the dinner is $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family.  Tickets can be purchased at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls or at the door. * Make checks payable to Clyde Avery fund.


***Donations can also be made to the Clyde Avery Fund at any Scenic Falls Credit Union.
