New club info!

Dear fellow Intermountain Draft Horse and Mule Association Friends ... At the meeting on the 25th of January,2014 .. Approximately 15 persons attended... And by voice vote it was unanimous to disband or dissolve the IDH&MA ..

Persons in attendance decided t...o continue the camaraderie of any and all persons in the area as a CLUB... The name of the club put forth as "SNAKE RIVER DRAFTERS" open to Mules , Minis, Half Drafts or any others used as a DRAFT ANIMAL. Dell Mangum accepted the challenge to be a COORDINATOR for this club. Any known Equine events or gatherings will be posted and e-mailed to persons who contact Dell either for sending or receiving information about events.

NO DUES will be required to be part of the SRD Club .. however it may be necessary to pass the hat to cover some events as needed. Persons participating in events should check with your INSURANCE CARRIER to ascertain if you have your own Liability coverage as the CLUB will not have any group coverage.

The SUCCESS of the SNAKE RIVER DRAFTERS CLUB will depend on you the members. YOU will be the reason for suggesting, planning and providing a reason to get together as friends and supporters of draft animals in the region. Suggestions of .. Plowing and planting days, wagon trains, parades, harvest days, playdays or whatever. You plan it and let the rest of us known when and where ...

A FACE BOOK Group has been started (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Snakeriver-Drafters/1390031191260628 ) and an email address has been established
( SNAKERIVERDRAFTERS@YAHOO.COM ) and will be monitored for communication of any area DRAFTERS....

This is just to let you know that items are in the state of change.. I hope all of you will utilize these changes.

PLEASE SEND your items of interest to the new E-MAIL so it can be sent on to other folks that might be interested .. Pass this information on to any of your friends that might be interested. I hope this will keep the camaraderie and interest in DRAFT Horses and mules alive here in the Snake River Valley. Members are welcome from anywhere.

January 2014 Newsletter

An elections meeting was held November 16th 2013. As usual there was a low turn out. Dean Jacobson was nominated and elected as President for the 2014 calendar year. We were unable to nominate or elect a Vice President to replace Von White or a Secretary to replace Ginger Cook or a Director to replace Laun Cook.

Because of our inability to elect all the necessary officers to run the association there was a discussion held with all those in attendance about the possibility of disbanding the Intermountain Draft Horse and Mule Association and simply calling ourselves a club. In doing so there would be no insurance premiums to pay, no fund raisers to raise money, no news letters, no taxes to pay, no officers to try to elect etc, etc. As a club we would simply continue with the activities we do with everyone providing their own insurance, meals, expenses etc.

The idea of a club vrs an incorporated Association has been discussed for the last year or so in the staff and planning meetings due to the lack of interest and the lack of attendance in the last couple of years. New ideas have been attempted to recruit and grow and membership and participation continues to decline.

Those in attendance at the elections meeting were all in agreement that we did not wish to make this decision without further input from the general membership. As a result, another elections meeting was scheduled for January 25th 2014 @7:00 PM. Mountain River Vet clinic 3745 E county line rd Rigby. We intend to either elect a vice president, secretary and director, or do away with the Association. Input and or attendance is needed from all membership..

If you cannot attend, please get a hold of one of the current officers below to give input so we can make your wishes known on the 25th.
